Fireworks Training Courses

Phenomenal Fireworks is one of the leading training centers in the UK for the British Pyrotechnists Association "Firer" and "Senior Firer" courses.

The training program is designed for either individuals wishing to join our team of highly trained professional pyrotechnicians or for existing companies who need to train their staff to conform with the EU Regulations for those handling and using Category 4 Fireworks.

The course is now extremely well established and has over 1700 registered pyrotechnicians who have successfully completed and passed at either "firer" or "senior firer" level. "City and Guilds" also accredit the course and examinations. City and Guilds are known the world over as leaders in respect of training and training programs; this accreditation gives those who rely on the course the confidence that the highest standards are being achieved.

The team at Phenomenal Fireworks has been delivering firework-training courses for over 10 years; we pride ourselves on providing an excellent course, which is engaging and interesting. All our courses include full refreshments, lunch and excellent facilities as well as an enthusiastic team who are on hand to answer all of your questions and share lots of previous experience.

We are also a BPA accredited Examination Centre for both "firer" and "senior firer" levels, both for our own firers/enthusiasts that train with us or for other companies who require the classroom training and examinations, but deliver their own practical training.

In addition to the compulsory 14 hours classroom training, every individual who wishes to take the examination must purchase/have his or her own copy of the BPA Training Manual, available from us as part of the training package or direct from the BPA.

You can download a PDF leaflet that has all the relevant information. For future training dates please contact us by emailing here.

You can also download a copy of the course registration form, which includes the dates coming up this year; if you could fill this in and return it to our training coordinator by emailing here

What we provide

The course and examinations are currently broken down into two levels, the first is "firer" and the second is "senior firer". For each level the candidate needs to complete a minimum element of classroom training (which we provide) and also a minimum amount of on site practical training (we can provide this on a limited basis, please ask for further details).

In order to be eligible to take the examinations for "firer" and "senior firer" the minimum number of displays / on site practical training sessions is at least 3 for "firer" level and a further 12 for "senior firer". This practical experience and all subsequent displays must be logged in the "firers logbook" which is provided to all who wish to fully undertake the course, training and examinations.

Unlike some training providers, Phenomenal usually deliver the two day BPA course for each level on two separate weekends with anything up to eight weeks between the two training days for each level.

Over many years we have found that our excellent student pass rate has demonstrated that this is by far the most effective method of learning; since it gives students the necessary time to read, absorb, and put into practical use, the extensive set of materials in the training manual.

The manual is now also available free of charge online, please click here for the download page of the official British Pyrotechnists Website

A hard copy is available direct from Phenomenal Fireworks, please contact us should you wish to order a copy.
